She can stay at her villa in Tuscany for a month, soak in the sunshine, relax, and find her confidence again.
At first the villa is a dream come true for Grace — that is until Claudio Romano shows up one day with his ten-year old son, Vanni, in tow. Thanks to their annual father and son bonding trip being cancelled, Claudio and Vanni are here to stay. So is Grace. He's unlike any man Grace has met before. But as the hot Italian summer wears on, Grace and Claudio are destined to succumb to the heat, no matter how hard they try to resist each other.

Now is the time where we are normally enjoying our summer and vacationing, so this book was a great escape for the mind, body and soul. I was taken from my home and transported to Italy where I got to live with a single dad, who is an artist and has an amazing and smart son. Claudio's a man that has basically lived for his son and his art for years.
He loves his family fiercely and is close to them, but he also seems to be missing some part of himself. And then there is Grace. She's lost her writing partner and her will to write. She wants to write, but can't get over her grief. And what if she isn't as successful writing in a genre she's not used to? She feels the weight on her shoulders and doesn't know how to bear it. Maybe staying in Italy will inspire her and her writing. I just plain outright enjoyed this book.
I'm not sure what exactly I was expecting, but I know when I get a Karina Halle book, if she transports me to a different place, she does the location justice and creates a world that I so vividly see. This book is exactly what romance and summer is about. It is an escape from your everyday life that'll make you swoon one moment and make you blush the next.
I mean, once we get over the serious sexual tension of this slow burn during the first half, our sex scenes ramp up and are hot AF!!! I want to make a copy of your beauty, of your soul, for the world to see. I enjoyed the progression of the characters, the scenery, the food, the drinks. I felt like I was there with Grace and Claudio navigating their relationship. It hit them from the first time they met and that meet cute had me laughing and already falling for both characters hard until the first time they decided to take their relationship a step further.
The steam was rising right off the s with those two. I mean, if you could have a Claudio in your life, trust me You would want him. He is definitely book boyfriend material. He is a man that knows what he wants and knows how to control the situation in just the right and safe manner for his muse. And Grace is learning to live outside of her partner.
Add in Claudio's son, Vanni and you have an Italian vacation you never saw coming. If you're looking for a story that will have you laughing one moment and then enjoying the company of the characters the next followed by biting your lip and blushing after, this is THE summer read for you. With minimal conflict and a great balance of character growth and relationship progression, this romance had everything that this reader needed to take me from my home right to Tuscany!
Inspired, desired, and completely in love. The escapism and perfect feel good romance. One Hot Italian Summer was such a wonderful and feel good friends to lovers romance. I was literally in Italy drinking Aperol Spritz and eating delicious food all thanks to the author and her writing. Claudio, his son Vanni and their guest Grace were terrific characters.
I liked them all and their dynamics worked. Grace did a lot of evolving while living with Claudio and Vanni. They both made her come out of her shell especially Claudio. The chemistry and friendship between him and Grace was great. I enjoyed how they both learned from one another and their friendship that slowly turned into more was well explored.
Claudio is an amazing father to Vanni but most definitely also a friend. He has a loving and tender side to him but also a possessive side when it comes to Grace. He made me swoon and hot. Like the Italian man he is.
It was adults who communicated when there was a problem and it got solved. This is the perfect vacation escapism everyone needs in their life, complete with a sexy Italian artist who is both loving and demanding. Paired with a bookish author who needs to gain some confidence, these two burn up with chemistry in the back half.
I will say that I found the first half to be a bit slow; not so much a slow burn as just kinda serious. The story follows Grace, an author who has always worked with a writing partner. As Grace falls for Claudio, his son, and Italy, it all seems too good to be true.
I personally think Claudio is the best part of the book, though I wish we had gotten to know him sooner. In the back half, things get downright steamy and the chemistry was definitely not an issue. I received an ARC via Valentine PR then purchased it for my collectionand am voluntarily leaving a review of this steamy book.
